Happy Birthday!

Friday the 21st of September is a really special day because it's the birthday of Mr Dan Hatfield The Hobbit. It's been 75 years since J.R.R. Tolkien first published the story of Bilbo Baggins and his awesome adventures.

We have the book in the library if you're interested in reading it for yourself. You can also find out more about it in this brilliant book review Hobbit Review

A Happy Hobbit Birthday!

Y6 Brainiacs

Mr John's class have been writing stories set inside the brain - it sounds a strange setting, but the stories are great fun to read. There are some photos of some of them, but all of their stories are up in their classroom, pop in and have a read if you get the chance!

The teachers get creative!

All of your class teachers were set a challenge in their last meeting - they had ten minutes to make a Plasticine model of a scene or character from a book extract they were given. They then had to add on adjectives, nouns and any other descriptive language that they thought was important. Mr Richard picked the winners - well done to the teachers in Year 4, we hope you enjoyed the KitKats!

The books were:

The Twits
The Hobbit
Lemony Snicket
The Secret Garden
The Secret Life Of Henry Sweet
Harry Potter

Can you guess which pictures went with which story?

Mr John's class are so NOT boring

Mr John's class have been reading part of a book called 'Staying Alive In Year 5'. Just like the children in the story, they had to complete a creative task called 'Why I'm Not Boring'. The class really enjoyed writing about it and wanted to share their ideas with you, what do you think?

SCUMPSING with Ms Helen & 6B!

Ms Helen's class have been working on a SCUMPS activity. While it might sound like something the BFG does for fun, it's actually a really good way of coming up with useful words to describe an object. Have a look at their pictures and see what you think - nice work 6B!

Ms Jemma's class are out of this world!

The children in Ms. Jemma’s class have been making links between their IPC topic ‘Space explorers’ and writing using descriptive language in English.

They created their own planet called ‘Gaylia’ and wrote a Lonely plant style travel book. This book contains important information about transport, what to wear and who you might meet if you visited Gaylia.
